RYSA SCHOLARSHIP FUND

RYSA Scholarship Guidelines

Each year, Randolph Youth Soccer Association will give up to three $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who will be attending college or vocational trade schools in the next academic year. The awards shall be determined by a committee of 3 RYSA board members that do not have a family member or child of a close friend submitting an application for that year.

To be eligible for the scholarship you must be a graduating senior in good standing with your secondary school, complete the standard scholarship application form available at Randolph High School and you needed to be a member of RYSA for 2 consecutive years. The scholarships will be awarded to the recipient after completion of the first semester in college/vocational school with a GPA of > 2.0 or a grade of Pass in a Pass/Fail system. They will also need to provide proof of registration for the next semester. It is the recipient's responsibility to forward this information to the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee as soon as it is available.

If for any reason the recipient no longer meets the inclusion criteria to receive the RYSA scholarship they must write a letter of appeal to the scholarship committee explaining their dilemma (i.e. transferring to another school in the fall, illness, military). If it is for poor academic performance, the student will have until the completion of their freshman year to bring their GPA up to > 2.0 or Pass. If they still fail to meet the criteria at the end of the freshman year, the scholarship will not be awarded and the funds will be left in the RYSA treasury.

Each scholarship is awarded to a student based on the total points scored from their application. Depending on the student's level of accomplishment, the student will receive 0-3 points (areas 1-4) in selected academic, athletic, general and community service areas. Selected areas of accomplishments in soccer are weighted and the student can receive 0-6 points (areas 5-6) in these areas. Commitment to volunteer service to RYSA is weighted and the student can receive 0-9 points (areas 7-8) in these areas.

Past Recipients

For the past few years, RYSA has given two $500 scholarships to two graduating seniors that will be attending either academic or vocational schools in the next academic year. The awards are objectively determined by a committee of 3 RYSA Board Members whom do not have a family member or child of a close friend submitting an application for that year. We hope to be able to continue this tradition indefinitely.
